Letter from the Election Committee
Posted On: Nov 10, 2014

November 10, 2014

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In a response to 2 appeals, we further studied the voided ballots in the 10/24/14 election.  Our findings were as follows:

  • 7 ballots received with no member identification

  • 1 ballot received from a nonmember

  • 16 ballots received after the 10/23/14 deadline

  • 3 ballots with markings on the ballot

Upon review of the CWA election procedures, we confirmed the lack of member identification and the late arrival of ballots to remain void.  However we do have a partial overruling on the 3 ballots with markings on the ballot.  The entire ballot is no longer void, but rather the vote that was mismarked.  Corrections are as follows:

• Ballot 1:   Presidential-void for markings, Secretary/Treasurer-void for markings, Business Agent CX&M – Eugene Plachecki

• Ballot 2:  Presidential – void for dual vote, Secretary /Treasurer – Robert Milone

• Ballot 3:  Presidential – void for markings, Secretary/Treasurer –Robert Milone, Business Agent I&M - Edward Mercado

Therefore the revised election results are as follows:

The Office of President:

                Anthony Caprara              12

                John Buchan                      99

                Dennis Leahy                     76

The Office of Vice President:

                Todd Kelsey

The Office of Secretary Treasurer:

                Robert Milone                   91

                Ken Kinsley                         97

Business Agent I&M:

                Edward Mercado             34

                John Horan                         38

Business Agent CX&M:

                Eugene Plachecki             48

                Mike McQuade                 14

Business Agent: C.O., Specials, VZB, and Non-Verizon Interconnects:

                Danny Caprara

We hope this addresses any concern of the membership in regard to the 10/23/14 election.

                                                                                                In Solidarity,

                                                                                                The Election Committee

YOU ARE THE UNION

UNION BEGINS WITH

 YOU

MOST PEOPLE FEEL THAT THE "UNION" IS THE BOARD,

THE PEOPLE WHO "RUN" THE UNION. THIS COULD NOT

BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.

THE "UNION" IS YOU: YOU ARE THE ONE WHO

ELECTS YOUR OFFICIALS TO REPRESENT YOU. YOU ARE

THE ONE WHO HAS THE PRIVILEGE TO GO TO YOUR

MEETINGS AND SPEAK WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND, TO LET

YOUR BOARD KNOW OF ANY GRIEVANCE YOU MAY HAVE.

A STRONG UNION IS ONLY AS STRONG AS ITS MEMBERS.

SHOW VERIZON YOU STAND BEHIND YOUR UNION, ATTEND

MEETINGS, REPORT INFRACTIONS BY MANAGEMENT TO YOUR

SHOP STEWARD OR LOCAL WHEN THEY OCCUR. YOU WILL

NEVER AGREE WITH 100% OF WHAT YOUR LOCAL DOES OR

DOESN'T DO. BUT, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT YOU GET PAST

THAT AND CARRY ON AND CONTINUE FIGHTING FOR YOUR

RIGHTS. REMEMBER, YOU ARE THE EYES AND EARS OF YOUR

UNION. WITHOUT YOU...THERE WOULD BE NO "UNION".

REMEMBER AGAIN UNION STARTS WITH U...N...I...
